My girlfriend's 12 year old called her today, asking her to come pick her up from school. Apparently, she was feeling nauseous due to cramps from her monthly visitor. My girlfriend went and picked her up and, a few minutes after doing so, received a call from the school stating that she will have to either test for the Rona, or be out of school for 10 days.
I’d tell her to celebrate, she gets to keep up with her schoolwork from home and have more free time for the next 10 days.
I’d opt for the ten days.
Just think, she could do that every month.
Years back, we had some friends who bounced around homeschooling but never took the plunge. Their son missed a few weeks of school for some medical reason I now don’t remember.
So mom goes and collects all the missed school work for that entire time, brings it home, and gives it to him to work on. He goes to his room and comes back a couple hours later with it all done.
She was LIVID and homeschooled him for several years after that. It finally woke her up to what a massive waste of time school was and how little actual learning was going on.
