I’ve got two guitars.. one has a low action the other is high.

I’ve actually raised the action as high as I can even bringing the 12th fret out of tune.

It’s still bad.

I did this in the efforts of trying small. I can’t make a slap sound yet at all.

Granted the low action makes playing real easy when I get the fret just right.

Which is honestly what I should be doing. The rattle is forcing me to make perfect contact on the frets.

I’m also using cheap, but Korean, guitars. A gremlin and a gretsch.

The gremlin is really strict with finger technique but the tone is actually quite rewarding. The gretsch is forgiving but I still get a lot of rattle.

Ultimately I’m still going well with the jamming and perhaps when I’m ready to get into a mainstream, high quality bass I’ll be playing it really well. It gets frustrating but I also understand it may take years of practice and study to get it right.

Have about putting a whim in the neck if it is a bolt-on?
Muscle memory is important. So just watching Tv and running thru scales is a neat exercise. It helps you feel where you are on the neck, not to rely on your eyes so much.
