I think the OP is asking what medical purpose is served by investigating what sorts of things greatly increase the perception of terror in a type of monkey that is extremely similar to humans. The purpose of this particular research is ______ ?? Anyone? Bueller?

The purpose is very clear- develop a drug that causes mass psychological fear - those that don’t have the drug in their system see the infected as a danger - more violence-more division- more bloodshed- more deflection

Because as the fear porn effect wears off, there is only so much they can try to ramp it up before people will instead start bursting out laughing instead.

So with this research, they can specifically target the brains of future vax zombies to keep them in a state of constant fear and submission to their overlord’s solutions to the scary stuff.

The OP could have looked into the research. But that’s not what this post is about.

BTW - “torture” is how PETA described the severing of major nerves in monkeys that rendered them disabled.
Of course, the reality is that the brain research allowed the development of new therapy for brain damaged people.
Some prefer that injured people die.
