...snip.. Later, Sexton realized the brief session contained the unsolvable puzzle. The waters of Cape Cod were not going to be free of white sharks or people anytime soon, and for all of his work studying the predators, he could not answer the most basic question. “It was awesome to be in the water and to see her there,” he said. “But should we really be in the water? I don’t know.”
Lanctot did not know either. “Felt really good to get back in the water,” she texted that evening. Then the old foreboding returned. By mid-October, peak season for white sharks near her home, she was unsure what to do. When she thought of surfing, her hands shook, her chest tightened, she struggled for a full breath. “If there were no sharks here, I’d be out in everything,” she said. “I’d go out in tiny waves, I’d go out in huge storms and everything in between. But it’s the end of an era now, of this being a carefree place.”

Who is swimming in the Atlantic this time of year??
Humans are on the hunt, not sharks
You’ll get Covid Sexton!!!
Water has a high specific heat.
The ocean is probably warmer now than in May/June.
How hard is it to stay out of the water?
I understand thermal coefficient of sea water
Air and water temp get close so it doesnt feel that bad. I grew up there
Seals
The Kennedy Legacy…
You’ve seen horror movies, yes?
If you read every word of the article it will be as though you have read a small book.
This article is well written and gives the human perspective of the white shark problem that will eventually spread throughout New England, since both seals and sharks are protected. -Tom
They’re going to need a bigger boat...
Perhaps it’s those lazy crazy hazy dems that love Cape Cod so much.
Roll out those https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7OZrNDtRltg
I am concerned for the health of the sharks

The local Polar Bear clubs.
You’ve brought back the essence of summer on Cape Cod with that Nat King Cole song. I was born and raised on Cape Cod and I remember hearing this song on the radio at the beach. The lyrics pushed the envelope of what you could say in a song in the 1960s. And now we’ve got “Let’s Go Brandon”.
Times change. Is life any better than it was back then? You bet it has in terms of medical miracles, airbags in automobiles, access to information, and a thousand other conveniences.
And yet, Americans have lost much of their innocence, reverence, and courage. But all it takes is good leadership in the form of a President Trump, Governor DeSantis, or Senator Rand Paul to inspire We the People to get back to work bringing back those “lazy, hazy, crazy days” when America was Great.
This is the best time of year for surfing on the coast of New England.
Obviously, that means wearing a 4/5 wet suit. 4mm thick on your arms and legs, 5mm over your torso.
The real hardos have a wetsuit with feet and a hoodie and then wear gloves.
Some guys literally have 3 or 4 wets suits. One for each season of the year.
Some of the best waves in New England are in the fall. Especially when you get those hurricanes that pass a few hundred miles off shore
SURFS UP DUDE!
This is the webcam of Jenness Beach in NH on the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the big surfer beaches north of Boston.
