U.S.—According to sources, your wife threw away an incredibly specific adapter cable you've been lovingly preserving for over 7 years, right before you found the perfect use for it. Sad!
"Honey!" you called across the house. "Have you seen my USB 2.0 Type-B to USB 3.0 Type B-Micro adapter? I've been saving it in this box for such a time as this!"
"I'm sorry, my dear husband," the ignorant wife replied, unaware she was about to utter the very words that would pierce you to your soul. "I threw that thing away just yesterday."
"Noooo!" you replied. "HOW COULD YOU? I found the PERFECT application for it!"
According to sources, you then went outside to dig through the garbage to find it, only to find that garbage day was this morning.
"Nooooooooo!"
You then had to go on Amazon to order a new one, only to find it would take 8 months to arrive due to supply chain congestion.
"NOOOOOOO!"

Tell her that you love her.
Th8s is why you dont allow your wife to touch your stuff.
Start throwing away her stuff on her, and she’ll figure out it can go both ways. She will learn to leave your stuff alone.
Or she will learn how to become a single cat lady and the nuances of boxed wines.
Yes, dear.
I have no qualms about chucking old, useless electronics but I always hang on the cords and chargers. I’ve got a box that has followed me for 20 years.
Boxed wine and battery love!
The lifelines of the cat ladies.
My wife wouldn’t but I do need to go through and get rid of some obscure stuff like that.
“Th8s is why you dont allow your wife to touch your stuff.”
Don’t even get me started on listing MY stuff that Hubby has thrown away. I never would touch his stuff. It all comes down to respect.
Hey, as long as your wife doesn’t occasionally find uses for them, go for it!
You betcha!
I have this Bernoulli Disk …
I figure that it will drive my heirs nuts!
It is labeled ‘treasure’!
Grin!
Only a box?
We have a 3ft by 5ft dresser drawer full of them.
ehhhh, yer a piker. I have a box I started in the late 80’s.
That hurts, but nothing equates to a mother throwing away your baseball cards.
Boy, I sure would like to know what use he found for that baby. I've been hanging on to mine for years.
That there is good for a hearty chuckle. Not sure I’d blame the wife, though.
[OTOH, my wife once put my rented empty Molson keg in the trash.]
Or comic books.
I’m not saying they’re all that way, but most of them are; women cannot comprehend the intrinsic value of things. They can’t understand how all things go through a period of dormancy and liable to seem useless, but its just that its new purpose has not yet become manifest...
(I guess you can imagine what my place looks like)
I am the cord collector, in this family.
All kinds of vintage adapter cables, phone cords, etc.
This has been a real life problem ever since Tanner Electronics in north Dallas / Carrollton closed last year.
A true dream store that bought out other stores from around the country, and hit up auctions on a regular basis.
Many local Fire and Police chiefs got together and pleased with county judge Clay Jenkins to allow them to stay open during covid, since they couldn’t operate their wireless and radio systems without those spare parts.
You could really find the most obscure parts there, for ham radio operator stuff to things from the old TI plants up the road.
An EE’s dream store.
