Since the crisis spiralled out of control, researchers have seen unusually low rates of smokers with Covid-19 in hospitals - suggesting they rarely get severely ill.

Now, for what is believed to be the first time, experts in Israel have found adults who smoke cigarettes are less likely to pick up the virus in the first place

adults who are hooked on cigarettes

Hooked on? That's an interesting way to put it.

Are people who drive to work every day hooked on cars?

Reminds me of the old Woody Allen movie where he wakes up in the future and finds out that all of things that were supposed to be bad for you (like smoking), turned out to be really good for you.

I wonder if smoking invalidates the test in some manner. The test is not 100% accurate.

LOL

As if the internal coating of cigarette tar & nicotine is protecting the main avenue of infection; the respiratory system.

I like this article because it’s confident enough to actually tell you the percentages so you can judge for yourself. I’m so tired of articles saying “researchers found that [whatever] was associated with an increased risk of [whatever]” and then never tell you the percentage.

How many of your ex-smoker FReepers are gonna start smoking again?

I am not going to, nor will I take the jab!

I refuse to live in fear, and will continue to go where I want to go and do what I want to do, despite my government hating that I can do that!

“WHAT, ME WORRY?”

“HELL NO!”

so the 50% that do get covid can just take an aspirin, which gives them about a 50% greater chance of staying off the deceased list- and they’re good to go-

So instead of 100 non smokers who will get covid only 50 out of 100 smokers will get it, and of those who do, their chances of survival are already, without aspirin, 99.97% overall- so that means that 49.985% will survive- Tack on some aspirin intake, and that increases the 49.985% even further as those that would have died, will now have a 50% better chance of not dying- unless my math is messed up?

What is the chance of drowning? Greater than getting covid i bet- maybe we shoudl all wear lifejackets 24/7 just incase?

Yup—when you really follow the science (and ignore peer pressure and “experts”) you find out lots of interesting stuff.

In many cases publishing it can get you fired or ineligible for government grants during your lifetime.

Crazy hypothesis... what if this is by design? Remember, we’re talking about a ChiCom-manufactured bioweapon. What’s the smoking rate among military-age Chinese males? Maybe 50-60% or even higher? Could they have engineered the virus so that it binds to receptors less available in nicotine users?

It just occurred to me that, the principle of our fearfully and wonderfully made immuno systems are so fantastic that, by ingesting nicotine, we actually CAN inoculate ourselves with anti-bodies that could protect us from future damage .... even to stuff not yet known.

As an ex smoker, I say;

Whatever happens to smokers has already happened to the ex smoker.

I'm cool with that.

Smoking again was never a thought.
