Gabby Petito's cause of death was strangulation, and the manner of death was homicide, Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue just announced at a news conference.
Officials previously announced her death was a homicide in preliminary findings.
The coroner said that the body had been in the wilderness for three to four weeks before it had been discovered.
Blue explained that it took a month to reach a final autopsy because officials were very "exacting" in their examination of the details.
He noted that they were also waiting for other specialists to arrive to help with this investigation and for toxicology to be returned.
"It was just a matter of making sure we had everything right," he told reporters. The news conference is ongoing.

KILLER Boyfriend.??.
It was speculated that the coroner wouldn’t give an exact cause of death because of false witnesses and nuts coming forward claiming they did it. Wonder why he he revealed the cause.
Gabby didn’t strangle herself?
Although the boyfriend looks and acts pretty suspicious, let’s ignore the media who will have him convicted soon and let the cops and courts do their thing.
Oh yeah. Gabby. That was a couple of weeks ago. Completely off the radar now.
Erotic asphyxiation carried too far?
Pretty suspicious? What normal person breaks camp and flees home without reporting a homicide of a "loved" one? A murderer is the only answer I can come up with.
From experience… I had a girlfriend who was a temper tantrum type and a hitter.
I could have easily killed her many times. She got the boot once I came to my senses and realized she wasn’t worth doing 20 to life
Yes, she was Italian
Did she have a tattoo on the back of her neck? BDSM club, perhaps?

They may or may not be able to convict the boyfriend of her murder. Whether a jury would convict probably depends on if they get any hard forensic evidence tying him to the murder scene itself, otherwise they would have to rely on an overwhelming preponderance of circumstantial. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t convict him. He did a lot of other things that will probably at least get him some jail time. Using her card after she was dead is one of them. Although that warrant is mostly just out there so they can get him into custody and interrogate, that is a minimum they could prosecute him for.
..or perhaps just a NUTJOB LEFTIST killing someone in order to spare mother Earth one more human being.
Cause of death is the ONLY info they revealed, per Wyoming law; no other details were revealed.
They preferred to wait til the BF was found but as time went on they decided they couldn’t wait forever?

Coroner Dr. Blue says this is a “domestic violence” case at 18:55.
Except she’s needed again as Biden’s numbers go further in the tank.
Like David Carridine?
He'll probably surface in a few months if it appears they have no evidence linking him to the homicide. I think the parents know this and so does his lawyer. Another Van Der Sloot case. Where's Greta? :)
This isn’t yet a cold case by any means but there probably is public pressure to catch Laundrie and this would focus even more eyes on him.
