THAT MADE AN ENORMOUS IMPRESSION EVEN ON A 17YO DIPSTICK.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
just would like to write a PS unter the whole affair: before court, it turned out that Mr. Ofarim had not told the truth.
He had misinterpreted the fact that, on that fateful evening, two regular guests were allowed to check in before him (a long line had formed at the check-in, due to a little rush).
This was not due to any “fault” on Mr. Ofarim’s part, it just so happened that both regulars were well-known to the entire hotel staff as regular guests, whereas Mr. Ofarim was a perfect stranger to the hotel.
Then, a second hotel receptionist, also well-acquainted with the aforementioned regular guests, happened by and saw them waiting in line and offered them a kind of “express check-in”.
Just because they were his long-time business acquaintances, not because of Mr. Ofarim’s faith.
Mr. Ofarim misinterpreted this friendly gesture of the receptionist towards his regular customers as an anti-semitic act. He filed a complaint against the second receptionist due to anti-semitic agitation. The case went to court.
To cut a long story short, the film material in the cameras was checked very thoroughly, and no less than thirty witnesses were interrogated by the judges. Nobody said that there had happened anything undue, and Mr. Ofarim had, as it turned out, kept his Star of David necklace under his jacket, so it was invisible.
So far, so good.
As Dr. Josef Schuster, the head of the Central Council of the Jews in Germany, had been saying after Mr. Ofarim’s video had gone viral in October, one should always be careful with prejudgements.
After all it is the task of the legal system, not the social media, to find out the truth.
That is what happened. It is possible that Mr. Ofarim might now, in his turn, be accused of slander by the receptionist, but I don’t think it will come that far. Rather, he might apologize to the receptionist, and the latter, if he is wise and good, will accept the apology.
Let us hope for the best.
