Wikipedia Co-Founder Says Online Encyclopedia is Now Largely Just “Leftist Propaganda”
Summit News ^ | 10/01/21 | Paul Joseph Watson

Used as a tool to demonize contrarians and anyone on the right.

Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger has blasted the site for its slide into “leftist propaganda,” accusing it of long since abandoning impartiality and simply becoming an amplifier for mainstream news narratives.

anger co-founded Wikipedia with with Jimmy Wales in 2001.

During an interview with the Epoch Times, Sanger noted that the online encyclopedia began with noble intentions but is now just another tool to demonize people who challenge the consensus.

“Wikipedia made a real effort at neutrality for, I would say, its first five years or so,” said Sanger, adding, “And then … it began a long, slow slide into what I would call leftist propaganda.”

Wikipedia is run by around 125,000 volunteer editors, the vast majority of whom are leftists, with a further 1,000 administrators who enjoy special privileges to block others who go against the grain.

Sanger explained how Wikipedia now serves not just to skew information, but to viciously demonize anyone on the right or anyone deemed to be a “contrarian.”

Wikipedia “casts them as conspiracy theorists, are far right or whatever, when they and their friends and people who know them well would never describe them in that way,” Sanger said.

After banning sources such as Fox News or the Daily Mail, Wikipedia now relies almost entirely on far-left outlets and legacy media sources to determine truth.

“More recently, they’ve gotten rid of almost all conservative news sources as sources for their articles,” he said

“And so as the news media has shifted, and as the establishment, frankly, has shifted more to the left or to the left, the content of Wikipedia has followed suit.”

As we previously highlighted, a perfect example of Wikipedia’s extreme political bias was evident when the website’s editors deliberately sought to bury links between convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Clinton.

The fact that Clinton flew on Epstein’s ‘Lolita Express’ private jet at least 26 times, which was reported by the media multiple times back in 2016, disappeared from Wikipedia before it was added back in after an outcry.

Editors also sought to scrub any of Epstein’s links to Clinton while amplifying his links to Donald Trump, which were less direct and less damaging.

Conquest's Laws of Politics:

  1. Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.

  2. Any organization not explicitly and constitutionally right-wing will sooner or later become left-wing.

  3. The behavior of any bureaucratic organization can best be understood by assuming that it is controlled by a secret cabal of its enemies.

If you are looking for information about the War of the Spanish Succession, or the hubble telescope - Wikipedia is OK.

Anything impacting American politics, modern society or the modern world - its spin, its biased narrative, its politics, in other words, TRASH.

Is there really anything at all which has been “infiltrated” by our side? Is anything a “tool of the Conservatives”?

Not social media, not MSM, not academia, not most churches, not the GOP, etc.

Leftist propaganda is everywhere, and there is virtually no “counter-argument” out there for people to compare and contrast.

It's been obvious to me for some time that anything on Wikipedia that's even slightly political is 100% Maoist. I might depend on them to give me accurate info on the elevation of Mount Everest...but not about President Trump.

You’re right about that. And the same goes for NPR. They air a lot of interesting programming. But when they get political, there is no attempt to be neutral. It’s all ultra-left trash.

At least I don’t have to pay for Wikipedia’s left-wing trash. But I do pay for NPR’s trash through my tax dollars.

Probably why Infowars self finances themselves by selling products and not depending on donations or advertising like Wiki. Any avenue of infiltration is cut-off.

The same tools are available to us but maybe we are lazy. Good ideas and programs degenerate to the lowest denominator very quickly. We failed to be involved as much as we should be?

What the left does is find the most enthusiastic incompetent person there is and prop him up for the cause. This does work for a while

But do we want to emulate that tactic? Can we do this and not lose our soul?

Destruction is coming. It can’t be avoided, too many bad decisions that a few good ones won’t overcome.

The battle is not lost. The 2nd is not about guns. “a well regulated militia being necessary..........” Group up now with like minded people.

We need to prep for the rebuild now, after they destroy everything. So read your Bible, learn your history and study the constitution.

I watch a lot of old movies, and use Wikipedia to look at the movie plots and bios on the actors. Didn't realize people actually use it to get other information.

One interesting thing about the actor bios; if an actor's political views are mentioned at all, it usually involves who they endorsed in the 1952 presidential election.

Personally I don’t care what insanity goes on in cities.
If San Fran want to live in a open toilet then go right ahead.
Likewise,if Chicago gangs want to kill each other..have at it.
It’s not going to change my life.
I’m still going to have a garden. I’m still going to go camping..I’m still going to live my life.
Really the internet is only good for gleaming info that you might not be able to find anywhere else...or as fast.
If it all went away tomorrow I would still live my life as I always have.
So,I guess what I am saying is,woop tee doo to leftist morons.

You’re right about that. And the same goes for NPR.

I'm a sucker for trivia shows so I often listen to Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me. But a few months ago some of the show's guests were making jokes about homosexuals that would have gotten nearly any conservative bounced off the air. Maybe one (or all of them) were gay so they got the "we're laughing at ourselves" exception, but it sounded like the 1970s. I wish I was able to quote it, but it shocked me that it was on the radio at all, much less NPR.

"The same tools are available to us but maybe we are lazy."

Nah. Conservatives are not lazy. Conservatives are some of the hardest working of anybody. The fatal flaw is that Conservatives eschew activism. It's the reason why boycotts are utterly failed prospects.(with very rare exceptions) It's the reason why talk of getting off of big tech is a laughable joke. We have a Conservapedia. You see thousands of conservatives using it? Nope.

Conservatives are deeply proud of being the "Silent Majority", which in the real world amounts to "we will win on election day, but for the next 729 days we will completely uninvolved". The Silent Majority abandons everything to progressives so that progressives can have it all.

The phrase "Silent Majority" is nothing more than surrender of the culture. The rallying cry of "Somebody should do something!" actually has a hidden word. "Somebody else should do something!" The word "me" is never included".

The only reason there was ever a Tea Party to begin with was because of Andrew Breitbart. That whole entire protest movement was him. It was Andrew. Somehow Andrew figured out how to break the spinal cord of the fatal flaw of anti-activism and convinced conservatives to go be activist.

There's not a day that goes by where I don't think about what Andrew was able to accomplish by getting us to move when there wasn't an election. But again, it is not laziness. I really resent seeing conservatives called lazy. (I know you didn't entirely mean it that way, I just can't help but respond to it)

My experience is that attempts to add balance to biased content can die the death of liberal interpretations of policies which are vast.

The left is driving hard towards cultural hegemony, but the leftist project is based on lies. It is therefore insanely destructive. This will produce a counterreaction; this is already happening. The left will respond by becoming increasingly totalitarian and seeking to control the flow of information; this also is already happening.

Part of our job is to support independent voices across the political spectrum. People like Glenn Greenwald and Bari Weiss pop into mind, liberal who have been mugged by reality. There are many more; Bill Maher is the third big name that pops into mind, but the list goes on. Most of these people may not ever make the full conversion to conservatism, but at this point an honest liberal who stands up against the woke monolith is our ally.
