UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the world needs to change how it makes, eats and wastes food in comments to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.
“The war on our planet must end and food systems can help us build that peace,” Guterres told the UN summit in New York.
Noting that food systems create one third of greenhouse gases, he said following UN sustainable goals established in 2015 could end hunger and poverty while creating global health and wealth.
Guterres called for reform of agricultural subsidies and said food should not be seen “simply as a commodity to be traded, but as a right that every person shares.”
The World Bank Group, International Food Policy Research Institute and Food and Land Use Coalition laid out plans at the summit to unlock $4.5 trillion (€3.8 trillion) in business opportunities with fairer food systems.
After US President Joe Biden announced he would invest $10 billion to end hunger earlier in the week, the Bill Gates Foundation committed $900 million to end malnutrition across the globe on Thursday. …

Notice that Guterres’ title is the same as that of the leaders of communist states, that being “secretary general”.

“The war on our planet must end and food systems can help us build that peace,” What scares me is that morons like this keep ending up in positions of authority and really FUBAR everything they can touch.

When this is the thinking behind food production - then it's pretty clear what the destination will be - mass starvation. The only interesting question is this an 'unintentional result' or 'goal'.
I'm guessing the answer is a depressing mix of both.

This is thanks to Alger Hiss. The worst leftists from all around the world get to attain positions like this in order to destroy human civilization a little bit at a time.

No; it’s definitely the latter.
Consider that Africa has suffered from this goal for decades.

The UN is a 3rd world Communist organization.
The U.S. would do well to decommission it,kick any remnants out of the U.S. and sell the land the building is on.

Second-world communist organization. Red China and its allies want to bring back the second world; they’ve been taking over large swathes of the third world for decades while they wait for their largest goals to be realized.
Not to mention, Alger Hiss used the 1936 USSR constitution as his inspiration for the UN Charter. And subsequently, the EU is patterned after that charter.

For an absolutely refreshing antidote to this communist garbage, watch the excellent video series by Kate Stephens about REAL farming in Montana. Kate is learning the trade from her Dad and Uncle and she does an excellent job teaching us how our food is grown and harvested. The complexities of running huge farm machinery, repairing it, and getting the product to market are amazing. It is wonderful watching this young lady learn the business and running farm machines. Her enthusiasm is really infectious, too!
From age 12, my own Mom was running trucks and Farmall tractors on a small family farm Idaho in the late 30s and early 40s, but nothing like the scale of the Stephens' family farm in Montana.
The very notion of some communist bureaucrat at the UN telling us what we need to do with our food supply is utterly laughable. When those types of people get out of the way, food supply is abundant.
Here's the YouTube series by Kate: Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion

UN sustainable goals will ensure hunger and poverty while destroying global health and wealth.
There, fixed it.
That we have enough food to "waste", I.e. discard because it's no longer suitable for human consumption, is actually a good thing.
Imagine if we had to eat every last scrap, every last wilted carrot and half rotted potato in existence.
