A conservative group is asking the Office of Congressional Ethics to launch an investigation of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for accepting free tickets to Monday’s Met Gala, where she wore a custom gown that said “Tax the Rich.”
The self-declared socialist congresswoman drew broad social media scorn for partying at the elite $35,000-per-ticket event while presenting herself as their rabble-rousing foe.
Thomas Jones, founder of the American Accountability Foundation, wrote in an ethics complaint that he believes Ocasio-Cortez, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, broke House rules by accepting “an impermissible gift” of free tickets to attend the annual gala, which also was attended by fellow New York Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney.
....Jones, a former aide to Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), additionally claimed that Istagram, which is owned by Facebook, “was able to purchase access to Representative Ocasio-Cortez that is unavailable to average citizens” by sponsoring a table at the Gala....

I’d slap that
These people kill me. If a vendor takes me out for a hamburger its a conflict if interest. Screw everyone of them.
Regardless of dress, this will go nowhere. First she’s a democrat. Second, she was invited by invitation with 400 others. Did they pay? I doubt anything will happen especially since she’s a democrat.
It’s also a gift with tax implications.
Won’t she have to pay income tax on the value of the gift?
Yep. When I worked on an Air Force Base as a contractor, I was warned not to accept anything “of substantive value” from a vendor. Yet politicians can take $35,000 tickets.
What are the taxes on $35,000 Airhead?
she was invited by a for-profit private company that poses as a fundraiser for the Met. She was apparently donated a ticket as well as as donated a seat at a paid table (see below for market rate). i.e., purchased access or campaign donation in kind? She may or may not have purchased the dress, but instead of just walking in, she devoted several minutes to modeling for the designer.
“How much is a ticket to the Met Gala 2021?
Various prices have been listed for a Met Gala ticket, but according to the Evening Standard it cost $35,000 for a single ticket in 2019 and $200-300,000 for a table at the event.”
(no event in 2020)

What’s the penalty for selling access?
Well Facebook CEOS and other like them love to pay to bring out AOC and dance her around for the media so it will pi*ss off Republicans.....they know AOC is one of their court clown jesters Pelosi likes to let out of her pen periodically. Same with those of the black caucus.....then they dial up the press and off it goes.
She should be charged with impersonating a horse. Democrats like her preach ‘diversity’ but don’t want to practice it. I saw an article over at NewsBusters about the latest molehill pushed as a mountain, “Today’s Big Racism Problem: Not Enough Black Women in Volleyball”, so give that a look. 13% of the population yet 68% of the NFL and 81.1% of the NBA...so they go after volleyball. And with her net worth (since entering Congress) she has a lot of nerve wearing that slogan on her backside.
Being a Democrat means never have to say you are sorry, or facing repercussions for violating laws you helped pass.
Just as if you are on a game show and win a lot of prizes. Most folks don’t realize...you are taxed on the retail value of those, and on any ‘cash’ won too.
And in the end............nada.
If New York State can go after Trump Organization employees for not paying taxes on corporate benefits and perks, then AOC should be investigated for accepting a free ticket to the Met Gala, to the tune of $30,000 since it should be considered a benefit, and perk related to the political position she holds.
well, she did show us HER (rear) end...
Unless she bought her own $35K ticket it seems quite illegal.
Facebook needs to be charge, fined, and possibly de-platformed for illegal political contributions-in-kind. For ...every ...single ...offense.
10% for the big guy.
Depends which Party you are in.
