The EU Copernicus Climate Change Service announced Tuesday that Europe witnessed its hottest summer on record this year.

The record-breaking summer heat comes amid growing warnings from climate scientists that time is running out to prevent the worst effects of climate change.

Copernicus found the average temperature from June to August this year was close to 1 degree Celsius above the 1991-2020 average.

The service said this summer was the warmest in its dataset, which goes back to 1950. …

Hotter than that summer during which 15,000 elderly (supposedly) died in France because of high temperatures during summer vacation?

Something tells me that the real Copernicus would be dead against something as unscientific as the “climate change service” abomination that the EU had the temerity to name after him.

Copernicus found the average temperature from June to August this year was close to 1 degree Celsius above the 1991-2020 average.

One thing I've learned: climate scientists cherry pick their dates they use for comparisons. Why only go back to 1991? They say they have data going back to 1950. But they used 1991 to 2020 as the limited set the compared themselves to? Fishy.

Exactly as you correctly italicized. They literally erased climate records before the 1950s which now gives them the ability to write scary headlines like, “hottest on record”. Conveniently, the records omit the 1930s which were even hotter for most of the decade. Many of those records remain unbroken, but if you simply exclude that data, why then almost every thing will be the hottest on record. Epic deception.

Every measurement has an estimate of uncertainty. Such values can easily be calculated. So what’s the estimate of uncertainty here? It might be on the order of +/- 1 degree Celsius, or more.

Such an estimate of uncertainty would render the given measurement meaningless.

Yeah; rainy in the morning and sunny in the evening everywhere. Year-round farming, obviously, and even tropical weather as far north as Hudson Bay.
