Let me parse that for you a little since you seem to have issues with comprehension. The PCR test had a false positive rate of up to 90% and was leading millions of people who had the flu and their physicians to believe that they had Covid.

In a nutshell the CDC produced one of the first tests when covid first showed up and now there are hundreds of commercial tests on the market. The new tests are better so they're going to quit making the old one. It's kind of like every other industry, when they design something better they discontinue the old model.

That is a nutshell that does a better job of displaying your ignorance than making any valid points. The CDC is a government agency. They came up with the protocol, they did not actually produce the tests themselves... labs authorized by the Emergency Use Authorizations did that.
The CDC has come up with two widely used testing protocols for detecting active cases of Covid. The CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel which has had its Emergency Use Authorization discontinued and the CDC Influenza SARS-CoV-2 Multiplex Assay which can detect two types of influenza viruses (A and B) and SARS-CoV-2 at the same time. The reason for the second protocol and the discontinuation of the first was because millions of people and their physicians were told that they tested positive for Covid when they actually had the flu.

And yes there are many labs that do the actual testing and produce products to collect samples for detecting Covid. But they all follow basically the same protocol from the CDC in the form of emergency use authorizations. For detection of active cases the vast majority use the same type of polymerase chain reaction test (PCR) testing method. The accuracy and validity varies from lab to lab but because they are all operating under the oversight of the CDC the results are intended to be fairly consistent and not apples to oranges comparisons. Unfortunately the false positive rate has been astronomically high which is the reason for the move to discontinue testing which does not include tests for the flu.
Other detection methods and techniques for active and previous “cases” of Covid are available and include Antigen, Serological, Sequencing, Isothermal amplification, or Mass Spectrometry but these are mostly used for research and are not available to individuals.

It's actually you that's displaying your ignorance. The initial test was marketed by the CDC, they developed and sold it because there was nothing else out there. I'm sure they had someone produce the reagents, but it was actually distributed by the CDC. Covid has been with us for over a year and a half now, there are multiple tests commercially available that work better so they're discontinuing it. The emergency use authorization is being discontinued and after the first of the year PCR testing that does not include tests for the flu will no longer be allowed. This extraordinary step would not have been taken if the original protocol did not have a massive false positive issue which misidentified the flu as covid for millions of people.
