The golf course crime spree is relieving men of their expensive Rolexes.
A pair of female thieves posing as reps for a charity have been prowling upscale golf courses in southern England, swiping Rolexes from the wrists of wealthy older men.
Police say the thieves are dark-haired women in their 20s or 30s with "Eastern European accents" who have reportedly robbed 14 golfers at posh UK golf courses.
One old bloke had been hit four times!
He has a new Rollie on every appendage.
Who the heck wears watches any more? Every cellphone has a clock more accurate than any watch ever made.....................

Lots of people. It’s a piece of jewelry. And in the case of Rolex, it’s a status symbol.

IF they are on a golf course, they’re armed - you can do a lot of damage with a golf club.
Sounds like an inside job. The starter employee must be tipping them off after seeing the watches.
I do. Nothing expensive, but I like being able to easily glance at my wrist to see the time. It's particularly helpful while driving. Also, I think of time in terms of a clock face. I like to see the entire hour and all the hours of the day on one face. Digital timepieces only show me the existing minute and second.

At some point, replacing electronics and batteries began to bore and finally really irritate me. When I realized I just needed to reasonably know the time, I got a mechanical watch. No batteries, 15+ years of service, visible in the dark, day+date, 100 bucks.
Got rid of the pocket-spy 8 years ago.
Now I laugh at people who walk around like zombies staring into those things that run their lives. China’s really got America’s number with these things, too, and that’s not so funny.

I do. A Seiko. I like it. I leave the cell phone home most of the time, so...
A lot of people that work with their hands, or outside, or in conditions that it would not be a good idea to pull out your expensive phones. You probably wouldn’t be wearing a Rolex, but maybe these old guys wore watches out of habit or to be ostentatious.
I wear a Timex. It’s easier than trying to pull my phone out of my pocket to see the time.

A ‘heads up’ for those men who may be regular customers at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Costco, or even Wal-Mart.
Last month I became a victim of a clever scam while shopping. Simply going to get supplies turned out to be quite traumatic. Don’t be naive enough to think it couldn’t happen to you or your friends.
Here’s how the scam works:

Two nice-looking, college-aged girls, in short shorts, will come up to your vehicle as you are putting away your purchases. They both start wiping your windshield with soap and water, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. (It’s impossible not to look).
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say ‘No’ but instead ask for a ride to McDonald’s. You agree and they climb in the vehicle. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.
I had my wallet stolen June 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 29th. Also, July 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 27th, and very likely again this upcoming weekend.
So tell your friends to be careful.
What a horrible way to take advantage of us older men.

By the way, Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for $.99 at the Dollar Store and bought them out in three of their stores.
Also, you never get to eat at McDonald’s. I’ve already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth from Lowe’s, to Home Depot, to Costco, etc.
So please, send this on to all the senior men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam. (The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)
