I just read the description of the Ceremonies, as woke as woke can get. Won’t bother watching. I think the average Japanese person would have hated it, and I can’t say I would blame them. Games should have been cancelled anyway.

I fully believe that if there WERE people in the stadium when Osaka was revealed, there would have been an audible gasp, and likely a lot of murmuring. I doubt there would’ve been anyone booing, since that really isn’t a Japanese thing.

I did watch the whole shebang, and I noted that she didn’t even really look like she was even a little bit excited. She seemed to move in a manner that felt ‘lazy’.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of Japanese call for the firing of whoever made the decision to name her.
