I was just watching a long documentary about Andy Warhol. In the second installment of that documentary, the narrator (film director Li-Shin Yu) describes a "multi-media happening" that was put on by Warhol and his Factory assistants; this event was called "The Exploding Plastic Inevitable."

On the inaugural performance of this show, which was held on Friday, April 8, 1966 in New York City, two of Warhol's Factory groupies one calling himself "Ondine" (actual name Robert Olivo), the other calling herself Brigid Polk (actual name Brigid Berlin) circulated through the crowd, injecting members of the audience with amphetamine. The narrator doesn't state whether this was done voluntarily or otherwise.
