University Hospitals released a statement Monday after a transplant recipient got a kidney that was intended for another patient.
UH says the kidney is compatible and the patient is recovering as expected while the other patient’s transplant is delayed.
Two of the caregivers involved are on paid administrative leave as the hospital investigates the situation to understand what went wrong, according to UH.

I’d look for the money trail.
Anyone that thinks the transplant industry isn’t corrupt needs to re-read the Mickey Mantle saga.

I hate it when that happens.
So many things can go “wrong”...similar names...similar tissue matching info..person on duty unfamiliar with the protocols....misunderstanding in communication...intended patient suddenly gets sick or cannot make it the hospital in a timely way...cuz when a kidney becomes available everyone gets in a hurry..cause the longer the kidney is outside a body(”cold time”)..the chances of successful transplant drops...and of course, there is human dishonesty...as in the surgeon wanting a particular patient to get the kidney...or the time honored “bribery” technique. Lots of b.s. happens” . Heads will probably roll...a real s41t storm.
The only surgery I’ve ever had are my two hip replacements.Just before both operations a surgical resident came to talk to me and labeled one of my hips “yes” and the other one “no” using a black marker.
