Seems to me that “Capitol Police” are just that: police with jurisdiction at the/a capitol.

Recalling “campus police” and how some universities/colleges merged their forces with local city police or county sheriff’s depts. IDK, other than “capitol police” have NO freaking business with offices anywhere other than the capitol.
