When I lived in Bremerton, WA, back before the MO was shipped to Hi-waee, we got to tour her. Those main guns are HUGE. I could stick my head inside the opening of the barrel and not touch any side of it. That was ONE BIG PISTOL shooting down range. They had a marker on the deck where General Mac sat and signed the surrender of the fallen sun.

I saw the MO tour when I was a kid, I was most impressed by the battle scars on the armor.
It must have been something crazy when it was happening.
I think it was the MO but they had the Hornet there for some time too.
I got to go on the Nimitz when it was in dry dock too. I was working on maintenance equipment while it was in dry dock.
I saw a huge amount of cargo going on.
There was like 16 basketball hoops being brought on as I recall.
I was thinking about playing ball on that rough flight deck...yowza.
The had to be some smoother ones somewhere below.
