Blinken’s statement actually is sort of true. The U.S., as a country, has no actual “friends.” It has allies: some loyal; some less so. Even our supposedly top-tier loyal allies like the UK, Canada and Israel will be disloyal when it suits them. We see that all the time. So, when you have no actual friends, it’s axiomatic that we have “no better friend” than Deutschland. It’s also axiomatic that we have “no better friend” than Botswana... or Uruguay... or Luxembourg.
Take note that the biggest instances of so-called disloyalty to the US out of the UK, Israel and Canada were (are) when their leadership was (is) on the left.
Germany, however, is consistently left wing. And note that the sucking up is on the part of the current left-wing leadership of the USA, not the other way around.
