Bees are intelligent. I once rescued a bee flailing about, whose wings were getting soaked and dragged under in my glass of apple juice, by scooping it out with a dried leaf. The bee shook itself, flew around to face me a foot from my eyes, and wagged back and forth in place like the letter X for a couple of seconds until my mind recognized a “thank you” message, and flew away. An unforgettable moment in nature.
