No, but it means they and only they can study it, do gain of function research on it, make vaccines for it, etc. Unless the other person wants to pay royalties.

SARS-CoV aka SARS-CoV-1 was that last one and is what shows in the patent in the OP.

Maybe ransomnote grabbed the wrong patent but I don’t doubt that they didn’t get this one patented. It’s part of the process of keeping everyone but the CDC out of the loop which is the point of the thread.
CDC owns the virus because they somehow patent it. Not sure how that works with a virus that is natural or comes from another country. Oh wait. Big Pharma owns congress so they got some laws changed/made.
Actually, the “19” comes from the fact that it was discovered in 2019. There have been may seven or eight (?) coronaviruses that are know to exist.
