SNL was funny in the day.

The had universal humor.
Then they went to North east humor.
Then they went to New York humor.
Then they went to NYC humor.

The rest of us didn’t get it.

It was still funny in the late ‘90s. Norm MacDonald killed it as the anchor at the Weekend Update. He was not the most PC guy so he got in trouble so he got fired. Also, they did “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” animation which was hilarious but they haven’t done it in years because it mocked gay people.

True enough! I really did enjoy Norm Macdonald. He certainly wasn't PC and seemed to lean a little to the right, IIRC. Amazing that he entered this world out of the same womb that later birthed Neil Macdonald! Must be interesting discussions at the Christmas dinner table, though I doubt Neil has either the intelligence, the wit, or the timing to say much against older brother Norm.
