Two men died after a Tesla 'on autopilot with no one driving' crashed into a tree in Houston before starting a huge fire that took 32,000 gallons of water to extinguish.
The fully-electric 2019 Tesla Model S slammed into the tree in Carlton Woods at around 11.25pm on Saturday night before bursting into flames with the passengers still inside.
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said an investigation had found that 'no one was driving' when the accident happened, with one man sitting in the passenger seat at the front and the second sitting in the back.
Officials told KPRC 2 that the $80,000 vehicle was moving at high speed when it failed to negotiate a cul-de-sac turn, ran off the road and crashed.

Teslas are Not rated for full autonomy.
When one designs, builds and markets a vehicle specifically for the demographic that has more money than common sense, it should not be a surprise when the consumers of said vehicle exhibit a lack of common sense.
Maybe both were drunk as hell and thought this was a great idea to get home...
Ooops.

Darwin awards in the future.
I’ve seen a study that says trust in the technology is inversely related to your age. The older you are, the more likely you are to keep your hands on the wheel even if the car can practically drive itself. Younger people besides being immortal trust the tech to work perfectly.
I wonder what the passengers’ ages were.
the road turned the car went straight. pretty basic error. back to the drawing board. condolences to the families of the guinea pigs.
i dont even like cruise control.
1. Don’t marry a woman with more than 3 sisters. I already blew that one, my wife has 6 sisters.
2. No Tesla.
3. No Covid shots.
The first one is an annoyance, the last two are deadly.
Water doesn’t do much for a battery/metal fire.
i dont even like cruise control so I must be pretty old. or maybe thats how i survived to an old age.

Batteries kept igniting? That's what I want, a vehicle, if involved in a collision, explodes into flames and takes half a day to put the fires out. Good gawd!
That is a pretty impressive fire. They must’ve just filled up with gas just prior to the wreck.

Tesla. For the environment.
Gosh I can’t wait for headlines for when Tesla gets into the flying car bidness
“a family of 6 were killed while when a Jetson-X tesla flying car crashed into the familys house when 2 incredibly drunk frat boys lost control when they they put the car in “too wasted to fly” mode.”
My two year old F-150 company car has 80,000 miles on it. I don’t think I’ve ever used cruise control.
How in the h*’ll was this thing EVER approved?
Granted I’m not an electrical engineer, but even I know better to use water on an electrical fire.
What were these fire fighters thinking?
That’ll buff right out.
