It’s all Greek to me - except of course the incredibly wonderful Gospel of the Grace of Christ which has nothing to do with religion which is one reason religious people hate it so much.

One of the readings was from the book of Ecclesiasticus (or Sirach), which is considered part of the Bible by the Greek Orthodox Church (as well as by the Catholic Church). It's a beautiful passage and mentions those who sail the sea.

In Ecclus. 43.25 the word translated as "sea-monsters" is the same word which is found in the Greek text of Jonah (2.1) for the sea monster which swallowed Jonah (ketos, which becomes cetus in Latin).
