If it is suspected, the player is taken off the field for a “head-injury assessment” by a doctor. He gets no say in the matter. If he passes the HIA he can return to play after 10 minutes. If he doesn’t he sits out the game.
Deliberate hitting of the head will earn a player a ‘red card’ which results in ejection (and the team plays the rest of the game short a man).
Watched 6 Nation a couple weeks ago, and as you stated players from teams committing head or neck penalties lose a player for the rest of the game. I was rooting for Wales who benefited greatly.
Sorry I don’t buy the concussions excuse. They guy made nothing of his life after an unmemorable NFL careers.Troy Aikman has had 8 concussions (thats just in the NFL) and I have yet to see him open up on a Walmart with an AK-47.
