I’m not being serious on that, but I am acknowledging the dangers that liberals represent in their desire to impose socialism on America.
I’ve changed my vernacular. I separate leftists from liberals and use that thinking “tool” in discussions to separate conservatives from the far right.
I’ve been arguing politics with “liberals” since the early 80’s. Here is the change that has taken place:
Everyone considered being called a “liberal” to be an insult. Then it became less and less so to the point that people started identifying as liberal. And the ultimate insult was to call someone a socialist.
And now many self identify as socialist.
The challenge is that the younger americans on the left are so utterly ignorant of the history of the world that they don’t even consider socialism a bad thing and even consider it a good thing. This is why debating on the internet no longer works. We don’t even agree on basic principles. We have literally become the equivalent of Jews and Nazis arguing.
i.e. Talk is not going to resolve it. Policies and world views will have to be allowed to bear fruit - poison fruit - before they can be removed. And let’s be frank. That is how God does it.
Your OP is the sort of thing I’ve been dealing with for the last 15 years or so. I no longer use liberal as a bad word. I prefer “leftist.” I like to derail them by calling myself a “Classical liberal”, which is what our founders were.
