You think China wants to start a war with Russia? Really?........................... How easy is it to defend a border that covers 12 time zones with a population under 200M? Russia isn’t encircled by 100% of friendly neighbors. All China needs to do to get part of the Russian territory is to declare war and surrender 200M troops. They are already creeping into eastern Russia, Putin has sent units to the Russian Chinese border to build up his defenses. IMO, Forget the treaty BS, Russians know about treaties and what they are worth. China is out to grab needed resources where ever they can using what ever method is necessary short of actual combat. China vs Japan is a battle of $$$$$$ and trade competition as is the rest of SE Asia. No one wants a Nuke War. The only loose cannon is SK. I fear that lunatic on his dying bed would launch every missile he has in the inventory to celebrate it. Over all its going to end up as a battle over who gets what in the drive for needed resources. Maybe the UN will decide the outcome? LOL!!!!!

I was told, many years back, that the only thing preventing Japan for getting a nuke was a “screwdriver and 45 minutes”

If China really means to utilize the incredibly huge investment its made on its armed forces, it would be far more logical and renumerative to seize the Pacific regions of Russia and Siberia after some absurd causus belli is found.

BTW sincerely hope the Russians do to the Chinese what they did to the Germans.

I sincerely hope that is so.
Same for South Korea and Taiwan.

half their young men are what the Japanese call “grass-eating animals

They would just do as they did in WWII - either the kid joins or the family dies including the kid.

The ultimate and most logical targets for China are the Russian underpopulated and rich Pacific coast possessions and the vast treasure house of Siberia.

Siberian border with China just happens to be where Russia stations its best troops and best equipment. The Russian want no repeat of the ‘64 and ‘69 ‘skirmishes’.

Interestingly when the border line was drawn, a few Russian towns were on the Chinese side and remain Russian speaking to this day - the border is marked with a barbed wire fence over much of it.

Yep. Thus, wealth, technology, and manufacturing.

Warfare will increasingly be remote, AI, robotics, drones, and computers and less soldiers, airman, or sailors.

Japan was already trying to beef up their military in response to Chinese aggression and the Norks playing with their toys. Their Air Force and Navy are not big, but they are very capable so I think they will focus more on “Fortress Japan” and less on force projection beyond their own shores.

Had Trump not been robbed of a second term it was likely, if not probable, that a much stronger Southeast Asian alliance would have been formed against China. I think Trump wanted to push us closer to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and India and continue divestment from China by US business.

China defeated Trump with the aid of their fellow communists here in the US.

Isn’t it crazy that so few blame them for Covid and all the damage it has wrought throughout the world? Had China been more forthright about the pandemic at the outset there could have been far less damage done and there is little doubt in my mind that we would be enjoying the second term of Trump and a much more peaceful world.

That and their crypto nuke program.

Do they want a war with Russia, right now no. If they can take Taiwan and neutralize the US Navy and Japan they will turn on Russia or India rather quickly. I say Russia because of their natural resources. The only reason they might hesitate is Russian nukes.

Japan needs to build an offensive capable navy and air force and begin to build nuclear weapons. They have the nuclear fuel to easily build them, they just need the desire and if Japan went nuclear it changes the whole equation in the Pacific with China.

BTW sincerely hope the Russians do to the Chinese what they did to the Germans...................... Combat multipliers aside, the Russians are out numbered greater than the Germans were. Both sides use the same combat doctrines. If you want to learn Russian or Chinese, go with the Russian if you are an optimist, and Chinese if you are a pessimist.
