Journey has reached an “amicable settlement” with a pair of former members that were previously accused of plotting an “ill-conceived” attempt to take over the band’s name.
In March 2020, Journey’s Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain fired longtime bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith after the latter two allegedly tried to fund their retirement by wresting control of the band’s name.
Both Schon and Cain and Valory exchanged lawsuits in the legal battle; Skip Miller, a lawyer for Schon and Cain, said at the time of Valory’s countersuit, “The cross-complaint has no merit whatsoever. Valory is out of the band. When the pandemic is over, Journey will go out on tour without him. Life will go on.”

i got a new name.
Journeys End
I used to work with a girl who I really liked, she was a cuz of steve perry.
One day she asked me what I thought of the band and I ripped them apart, especially perrys girly vocals,
that was uncomfortable, she used to do his hair!
But we remained friends.
Won dah whooo’s Cryin now...
Loved them.
It’s really sad that these breakups (as with Grand Funk RR) are so hostile. Steve Smith was a very good drummer, probably in my top ten.
Live, no, I didn’t think they were that great. But they were a terrific album group. Their gold records testify to that, and I still think Perry is the best overall rock singer ever.
I liked GFR
Mylife fella: your mistake is not knowing what turns women on. One is Journey. beautiful love songs that turn women on-make the young girls cry. I’d take a girl out any evening to one of their concerts. Sure they’re girlie-men songs but you enjoy getting laid don’t you?
Thank you! Can’t stand journey. Instant turn of the dial when one of their songs start.
Journey’s stadium rock is as boring to me as the NFL that actually plays in those stadiums: long “commercial breaks” punctuated by actual play.
At least they’re not lovin’, touchin’, squeezin’ each other.
We had this same problem in a band I was in.....fighting over a name.
I wanted our name to be The Rolling Stones.
It seems that there’s another band with that name.
So we called ourselves Herb Alpert And The Tijuana Brass.
I dint need journey to get chicks!
most insipid girly band ever!
Journey ended for me when Steve Perry left.
Good artistic talent and good personalities don’t necessarily go together.
Not REO Speedwagon?
He's had a very good career away from Journey, playing and teaching real music.
Oh I have story’s about that lame band too
