I used to live and work there. I do know that Australia and NZ recognize what they call a “De-Facto” relationship, which for practical purposes, is like being “married”.
Louisiana has ‘Putative Marriage’ or at least they did 40 years ago. Now that they’ve let their law get largely Anglicized, who knows (except, perhaps, a Louisiana domestic relations lawyer).
