Meteorological spring began on March 1, but to many the official first day of spring is marked by the vernal equinox — and that’s today (Saturday, March 20).
The actual moment of the equinox has already happened: It was earlier this morning at 4:37 a.m. CDT...
The sun will rise due east and set due west around the equinox no matter where you are, so the equinox makes a good day to locate those points from your house or favorite skywatching spot.
Up next is the summer solstice, which will fall on Sunday, June 20, at 10:31 p.m. CDT.
The fall equinox will be Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 2:21 p.m. CDT
And the winter solstice, or the “shortest day of the year,” will be Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 9:58 a.m. CST.

Welcome Spring!
here in Michigan...other than February, we had a very mild winter...loved it...
It seems like most winters in Michigan for a decade or so have been milder than normal...or what used to be normal
i think it was 2015....worst winter i ever saw here..the so called polar vortex..it was brutal.
Yeah that sounds like it. Was it Christmas Eve that we got the ice storm? Close to the winter holidays as I recall. First time I ever heard the term “polar vortex” used.
Weather programs used to be information.
Now it’s a combination of entertainment and propaganda.
the sun will rise due east and set due west around the equinox no matter where you are
only true on the equator
Spring was cold as hell here...not funny, Mom Nature...
He said everywhere and that is correct. But ONLY on the spring anf fall equinoxes.
no, only on the equator on the spring and fall equinoxes.
This ocurres at increasing latitudes each succeeding days until the summer solstices at the 23 degree latitude and again at decreasing latitudes until the fall equinoxe.
Here in Central Texas we put that one in the books.
Then we burned the book ... ;o)~
