The Regal Theater in downtown Santa Cruz will remain open after a new company purchased the theater.
The company announced on Instagram the theater will now be called the Santa Cruz theater.
The company had announced it would be closing for good in mid-February. Now, Santa Cruz Cinema plans to reopen on March 25.

You can still take older women there...

I lived in Santa Cruz in my youth. There was a theater called the Nickelodeon. They played a mix of foreign and very old B&W movies. It was great on Friday nights. After the movies we went to a club called the Catalyst.

I hope it shows Spartacus and The Private Life of Henry VIII. Will there be a lost and found and a concession stand?

The Nickelodeon is still there. It's kind of an art house theater. I was there in 2019.
The Catalyst is still open too, and looks to start having concerts again in April.

Spent 20 years in San Francisco, Santa Cruz was our favorite weekend trip, kids loved the Boardwalk for 10 years.

Catalyst was a legendary rock/blues venue in the 60s.
Use to respond to od calls there when working for the local ambulance company.

I haven’t been to the Regal Theater since True Lies came out and think the last time I was at the Nickelodeon was when the original Carrie came out. I prefer the more modern theaters (and chairs). We very rarely go downtown but we did hit El Palomar 3 days ago and was surprised at how clean downtown was. Unfortunately, the homeless element is still quite present.
