“I didn’t start that thread, had to take a long miserable phone call.”

+++++++++++++++

Tis a theme these days.. long, miserable phone calls. Mine today was to the Social Security office. They won’t give me a Medicare number, even though I qualify through being married for 42 yrs lol. Well, Medicare won’t give me benefits, until I get a Medicare number from SS. SS won’t give me s#!+ because I was a lazy, good for nothing stay at home mom, according to their records.

I was on hold an hour. My application is “being looked at”.. uh huh, yeah, that’s what they’ve been saying for 3 months.

You wanted to hear my woes today right???? LOL! Yesterday and today, I’m going through my mil’s hope chest that hasn’t been opened for YEARS. Stuffed to the brim with interesting stuff, weird stuff, about 15 silver baby spoons. WTH? I told my dh, I always knew you were born with a silver spoon or 2!

The weirdest things I’ve found was my mil’s wedding bouquet that seriously looked like dead crab legs, with very old tulle, and dead flowers. It was straight outta Addams Family. My dh’s baby teeth.. those went straight in the trash. I said, “tough if you go missing lol, I’m not using these for dna.”

And tons of little party favors, wedding favors from the 40’s. With the candy still in them... almonds? Oh, and 2 petrified marshmallows with sequin eyes and pipe cleaner holders, party favors from a baby shower. I’m keeping the petrified marshmallows because they are hysterical.

Oh, and their cake topper, minus 2 heads. Well, the womans’ head was stuck in the veil. No clue where the man’s head is. My mil probably snapped it off, because fil was a cheat lol. Good times, good times lol.

And TONS of old newspapers! Like one from 1940’s (45?) that says “KING OUTS MUSSOLINI”. And old Life Magazines. Those will be placed in acid free archival protectors.

Your story tops mine, by a mile. Amazing what people keep. DH and I are trying as fast as we can to get rid of stuff.
