NATO must reduce its “military emissions” in an effort to tackle climate change, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday.
He made the announcement on Twitter as he welcomed the United States’ special envoy for climate — John Kerry — to Brussels.
He tweeted: “Great to welcome @ClimateEnvoy John Kerry to Brussels. We agree that climate change makes the world more unsafe, so #NATO needs to step up and play a bigger role in combating it — including by reducing military emissions. I look forward to working closely together. #NATO2030.”
Last September, in an op-ed published on the NATO website, Stoltenberg declared he had been “passionate about climate change all of my life.”
“It is my responsibility to address the threat climate change poses to our shared security.” …

NATO has no reason to exist at all anymore. Stalin has been dead for almost 70 years, the Soviet Union has been dead for 30 years. We've spending billions for troops and weaponry deployed to face a threat that disappeared decades ago. Why are we still paying for Western Europe's defense?
To: AnotherUnixGeek
We aren’t. We’re supposed to be paying to keep them down.
And you disagree with Trump that Putin, one of Red China’s biggest allies, is a problem? There are of course other ways to deal with that, but letting the EUSSR do as they please (they’ll throw off the “climate change” rhetoric if we’re out of the picture) is the one key thing to not allow.

I bet if you made the armour on our ships and tanks thinner they would get better gas mileage and pollute less

Hydrogen powered fusion is very green. To solve global warming NATO can nuke 3 billion city dwellers.

A problem? Sure, for former Soviet states that are now independent. A problem that menaces Germany? Nope, nonsense. Putin's got his hands full trying to meddle with Georgia and the Ukraine - he doesn't have the power or the guts to try to retake the Baltic nations, let alone take on Western Europe. Redeploy a few of the troops stationed in Germany to Poland and Hungary and bring the rest home. Why are we paying for Angela Merkel's defense with our tax dollars?

That’s correct; they do not menace Germany. Merkel has been conducting very friendly negotiations with Russia for well over a decade and a half, in fact.
If we do get out of Europe, the point is to keep them divided, though. The EUSSR was founded primarily on anti-Americanism, and if they were ever to be allowed to put their plans for a united military through, the USA is still their primary target.

Whatever happened to the Green Berets? We need to dust those folks off in order to placate the envirowhackos.

Probably not. Watching your neighbors go insane is disquieting and spooky, not a dream.

Climate Change is an industry. Unfortunately it is not a private enterprise. It goes after the easy money. Yours and mine that we contribute to government. Contribute probably needs an explanation as well. Forced might be a better word.
