"The ONE WORD you DO NOT WANT TO HEAR in a nuclear laboratory:" Most definitely true. I minored in nuclear science (analytical chemistry major) as both undergrad and PhD candidate, and spent many hours in different nuclear laboratories. Safety was DEFINITELY "Job 0" (a higher level than "Job 1").
