All valid concerns. The banks are considering using a “social justice score” to even lend to you.
Companies that have publicly traded stocks are now being given ESG scores (Environmental, Social and Governance). The largest mutual fund company, BlackRock, is a big force behind this and uses the score in making decision on which stocks it's mutual funds hold. They can force "politically correct" actions without any laws being passed. Google has helped China with it's "Social Credit Scoring" system for Chinese citizens. I would not be surprised if Google is already collecting this data on US citizens and just waiting for the proper administration to be in place to implement it.
I read that one is coming here. I read that they are already using it, or variations of it in Communist China.
And yet many FReepers scoff or even denounce cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum. Decentralized finance on that platform is an emergent alternative, disintermediated, censorship-resistant financial system.
