In the Crypto Vault we had a large coffee can with holes opened around the bottom edge. We had to sign the tracking documents every shift for each item we destroyed along with a witness, then burned them in that can. It was fun to see the smoke disappear into the huge air return of the cooling system keeping the temperature just above freezing in the vault.
From that time until now, my signature and initials look as horrible as a doctor's. When you sign or initial hundreds of times a night or day it gets tedious.
We were all always aware that the next guy we might see in public could be an undercover OSI agent or a foreign spy trying to compromise our butts.
