It sounds like they are going after the aide. The aide will probably get a deal to testify against Cuomo.

No match between the government action and reporting, and some criminal statute.

There is no criminal statute on the subject of knowingly exposing a population, e.g. nursing home, to some indefinite but significant increased risk. Government failure to care for the population is not a crime.

There is no criminal statute on the subject of advancing false or misleading statistics for the purpose of political advantage. In fact, the government does this all the time. Generally, it is not a crime for the government to lie and mislead. It's up to the listener to grant, withhold or temper trust and faith.

Both the government and the press lay claim to having public best interest and truth as guiding principles.
