I just spoke with my son who lives near that accident site. He says the roads are slippery and Texas doesn’t salt or sand, and the people don’t know how to drive on ice. The highways are speed limit 75 and people drive like demons, anyway. Very bad!

I’m so thankful that I moved to the South from Maryland.

As a senior, I no longer drive at night or in the rain and hope to keep my license for a few more years!!!!

I can understand local drivers, but it seems like a tractor trailer drivers should be trained how to drive on ice.

On the other hand, could the tractor trailer drivers be from Mexico?

The videos that people had sent in that were shown on the local news were unbelievable. Showed the pile up as it was happening.

...Texas doesn’t salt or sand...

That depends on the city in question. Lubbock, and Amarillo, for example, do have sand trucks. Also, the local TXDoT crews in many areas have road sanding equipment. It depends on the area/city in question, and how they deploy their sanding crews.

We used to sand. TXDOT switched to a brine solution a couple years ago. I Dottie very far from this accident. Video is awful

"Texas doesn’t salt or sand"

Not entirely true, West Texas, for sure, salts the roads during icy weather, ESPECIALLY over bridges. (at least they did before I left the states 2 decades ago)

This day and age's drivers, on the other hand, I have no idea how crazy they are.
