Pope seeks ‘Copernican revolution’ for post-COVID economy

Pope Francis urged governments on Monday to use the coronavirus crisis as a revolutionary opportunity to create a world that is more economically and environmentally just — and where basic health care is guaranteed for all.

Francis made the appeal in his annual foreign policy address to ambassadors accredited to the Holy See, an appointment that was postponed for two weeks after he suffered a bout of sciatica nerve pain that made standing and walking difficult.

Francis urged the governments represented in the Apostolic Palace to contribute to global initiatives to provide vaccines to the poor and to use the pandemic to reset what he said was a sick economic model that exploits the poor and the Earth.

“There is need for a kind of new Copernican revolution that can put the economy at the service of men and women, not vice versa,” he said, referring to the 16th-century paradigm shift that stated the sun was at the center of the universe, not the Earth. …

I look forward to the Pope’s analysis of the Rams/Lions trade of Jared Goff for Matthew Stafford, and how that will impact the NFC next season. He might know as much about that as he does about economics.

A huge increase in health could be obtained by Americans exercising and losing weight.

Oh look - the Pope comes out in support of the Great Reset while Catholics are slaughtered in China.

There is tremendous irony in this Pope being so spectacularly wrong about everything, and referencing the Copernican revolution as some sort of justification for why his error is somehow justified.

Will Catholic schools be required to teach that planetary orbits are perfect circles, as Copernicus believed? It was that heretic Kepler who claimed that orbits are elliptical.

The biggest killer is big government, more 200M killed in 20th century.

He has alway supported global government and would never call for more local and popular control.

If this anti-pope wasn't spending so much money on molestation lawsuits, he'd be able to contribute to people's health care.

Francis ignores the teachings Christ about of the Good Samaritan who spent his own money to care for the beaten traveler left for dead on the side of the road. The Good Samaritan didn't drop him off somewhere at the taxpayers' expense.

The Catholic Pope is corrupted by Social Justice. But that’s predictable, given Pope John Paul the Second was fighting Communist Liberation Theology in the church 30 years ago.

I don’t recall him being much help during the Covid epidemic. What’s he crowing about now?

Pope Francis is a political dud and not a man following God and his instructions. He concerns himself with things he should not!

When the Catholic Church provides free healthcare for all Catholics, maybe the Pope might have some credibility. Or they might even try ‘reparations’ to all the indigenous communities enslaved to build missions instead of sloughing both off to the debt column of non-Catholics. Or maybe, just maybe, the Pope could concentrate on ministering to Catholics’ spiritual needs, an arena he has been sorely deficient in, and leave worldly affairs to others.
