I’ve always (since 1976) worn brown shoes with a blue suit.
Altho, I trend toward a more subtle, darker brown (cordoba)
It is standard fashion sense, not a trend.
The rule is, “the shoes match the belt” and “never wear black with navy”.

I'm with you there. I wear oxbloods with dark\navy blue. seems to be ok.
