Actually, Marvin wanted it that way. He never really liked his dad and his cross dressing, and the way he abused Marvin. Marvin bought him the gun used to kill him. He was coked up and depressed and set it all off by punching his father, knowing that would trigger the respo se. Marvin was a lost soul caught too deep with drugs.
