Three Gorges Dam was the most dangerous in 17 years.Large floods left 101 dead and 850,000 evacuated 92 views •Jan 13, 2021 1 0 Share Save News Updates 1.17K subscribers The Three Gorges Dam encountered the biggest challenge in 17 years On January 12, it was reported that prolonged heavy rains caused floods that damaged two-thirds of China's provinces, and even put pressure on the Three Gorges dam. As of January 12, the People's Daily reported 101 people were killed or missing in the new flood, while more than 850,000 people had been evacuated due to inclement weather.

This heavy rain has affected at least 15 million people in 26 provinces, cities and autonomous regions of China. In particular, the megacity of Chongqing, southwestern China, suffered the worst floods in more than two decades. After a night of rain in southwestern China, two cars fell into the river, killing 2 people and missing 3 others in Mianning district, Sichuan province. Another person has been killed and nine others are also missing from Sichuan province this week.

According to estimates by the national fire force, the most recent flood caused an estimated economic loss ($ 4 billion).

Worryingly, heavy rains are forecast to continue falling in China next week. China Central Television (CCTV) on the evening of 12/1 said, China Central Meteorological Station continued to broadcast a yellow warning about heavy rain in the south of the country and forecast heavy rain in the next 3 days.

Hubei province in the central and Jiangxi province in the east recently issued emergency meteorological disaster response. The southwestern provinces of Guizhou and Dong Anhui have also improved their response to natural disasters. The worst flood to hit China in recent years was in 1998 when more than 2,000 people died and nearly 3 million homes were destroyed. The southwestern region of China alone is suffering the worst floods in 80 years, including the city of Chongqing. This posed a threat to the Three Gorges dam as its upstream was worst affected since 1940.

Hydrologist Wang Weiluo questioned the dam's bearing capacity after noting cracks and substandard construction concrete. However, the Global Times claimed that the Western press exaggerated the incident. The newspaper quoted Guo Zun, of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics under the China Earthquake Management Bureau in Beijing, that the Three Gorges Dam had a much larger capacity to hold water than is currently seen. According to Quach, the dam is designed to withstand a water level of 175 m or to withstand a flow of up to 70,000 m3 / second."

There are several YT items in the playlist quoting Daily News, apparently in China. Here is another item from another in the playlist. This appears to be a recently reactivated YT Channel. I have been looking for Three Gorges information, and found very little anywhere else. Am now posting below commentary from another from this playlist. I have no other knowledge and am posting this as information only. Thank you.

Floods caused dikes to break in Sichuan, Tam Gorges dam increased the speed of water discharge Many localities in China have been affected by the flood that the country's government calls "one hundred years" on January 15. State media reported heavy rains for several days broke the dyke and flooded in Sichuan province, leading to new flood warnings in the upper Yangtze River basin, which also poured into the Three Gorges dam reservoir.

Officials in Sichuan yesterday raised the emergency warning to level 1, the highest level on the four-level warning ladder, after the Qing Y River and its tributaries overflowed.

China Daily quoted a local official in Tu Trung district as saying: “More than half of the province's area has been flooded. "The road to the district has been flooded and the district itself has become an isolated island". Sichuan residents were severely affected, unable to account for all the casualties. Since June, China has struggled with a series of terrible floods concentrated in the south. The water level at Tam Hiep Dam, the largest hydroelectric project in the world, is 164.2 meters high. The maximum water level that the reservoir can receive is 175 meters.

Authorities are implementing flood control measures at dams along the country's longest waterway, the Truong Giang River. At Tam Hiep dam, the flood discharge on January 14 was raised to 54,000 m3 / s, from 45,200 m3 / s, with flood discharge to the lake from the upstream branches expected to continue. increase.

Floods continue to raise concerns about dam safety. "Due to the massive inflow of water, upstream dams are under increasing pressure, while floods are inundating localities in their catchments," says Heritage Foundation, lead researcher and consultant. know. I know. . Books of America, said in a January 13 report.

About 55 million people in 27 of China's 31 provinces have been affected by the flood that lasted in the second half of January, with at least 224 people dead or missing in this flood as of January 14. , The Department of Emergency Management said. Direct economic loss due to floods is estimated (31 billion USD), 24% higher than the 5-year average.

These losses, expected to increase in the coming days, only complicate China's recovery from the corona virus pandemic.

"China's economic data for December provides additional signs that the recovery remains unbalanced and depends on special policy support."

There are about a dozen videos on Three Gorges Dam and also explosions posted on the channel listed, all from this last week.

It is interesting that the channel began with crafts about 2009, with nothing posted between then and this week. And now, many possible news items on internal mainland China.

Am now curious how long the channel’s videos will be up.

Best for one to view personally. Might get your hope.

Am not sure what I desire here.

Biden would send relief needed by Americans, and take in tens of thousands of unvetted refugees.

Will China then turn inward or outward?

Care for their people or go to war?

Hmm.

I hope the ccp is made a fool of but not for any tragedy to befall its people. There are children below that dam, and yes in war all is fair but I wouldnt wish that upon any innocent life. War is hell, but we aint quite to the full blown hell yet.
There is good in the ranks of the enemy, you have to find it and use it against them. That applies to all of our enemies.

It would really humiliate the Chinese. And could destabilize them. That’s my thinking.

Pretty sure this is news from last summer, it’s not even rainy season in china right now and there’s no news of flooding or three gorges being inundated from other sources.

“Was”.
The Chinese had a close call but it turned out OK.
Though there were some losses.

War is hell, but we aint quite to the full blown hell yet.

Serious question: What's it going to take to get there, whether war with China or war with the left? How much more loss of our country and our freedoms is needed before that happens? Are people just content to try and live theirs lives, hoping someone else will do the dirty work?

That’s a good question. It could very well break apart into feudal states. That’s also happened in China’s past.

I think it will do that.

Possibly. But what would the disinformation be or prove?

Would like to confirm or disprove.

There are 21 videos placed on this channel in the last three days and several seem to be talking about President Trump’s EOs on China companies and trade.

There are literally hundreds of 3 gorges dam videos. They are written in text which is read by a Macintalk voice. The text highlights some words in blue, although it isn’t very choosy where it highlights. sometimes it highlights word that aren’t the ones you would naturally highlight if you lived in the west. A lot of them are repetitive and it has gotten very difficult to tell which videos are current and which ones are recycling flood images from this past summer. In July and August, they had horrendous flooding. I think a lot of the stuff on youtube is just recycled content trying to get you to click. It is massive clickbait.

Having said that, it is apparent that during the past summer monsoon season, a lot of farmland was flooded, and a lot of rice was destroyed. They had a pig pandemic which made them kill a lot of their pigs, causing pork prices to rise. The upshot is that the cost of food here in good old USA is going to skyrocket as the Chicoms come over here and buy up our food supply.

While you should never take financial advice from an internet troll, I will say that I sold all my stock mutual funds and put the money in a commodity fund. It’s been doing pretty well so far.

People have been doing dirty deeds for some time now, its high time the rest of the world saw what goes on behind the scenes and yes people are happy to see someone else do the things they would rather not do, otherwise plumbers wouldnt exist lol.

That being said, I do not think china will accelerate their aggression if things remain as they are. Any hint of turmoil here though and the threat will hit a high point. The world is standing around like a vulture waiting to see what happens at the moment.

Yes, however this continues to bother me. Perhaps it would be possible to see a current satellite view. For some reason, the 21 videos here are tugging at the back of the mind. . . Best idea commodity fund. Thank you.

China floods every year. Last year’s flooding isn’t a one time event.

That’s why there is concern.
