Sen. Rand Paul talks impeachment and Capitol riots

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Wednesday Sen. Rand Paul, exactly one week after the attack on the Capitol described the events as a “bad day in our history.”

When asked if the Capitol event would cause tensions within the Republican party and this is what he had to say.

“You know I think it was a bad day in our history. What happened at the Capitol was led by people who had this misguided notion that the Congress should or would overturn the Electoral College. What I try to explain to people over and over again is the Electoral College is based on states’ rights, based on the states’ right to run elections but the Congress wasn’t put in place to overturn the elections or overturn the state run elections. Now that doesn’t mean I wasn’t upset about the results of the election or that in some states it didn’t appear that they followed the law, but the states have to object to that. And so I think it led to even increasing anger because it misled people to people that Congress could overturn this,” said Paul.

Some think that with the frustration with the Republican party, there needs to be a creation of a third party. Rand Paul says he doesn’t see a third party being successful.

“You know there are always people who are unhappy with both parties. I’m one of them often that think that both parties spend too much money. The Democrats give too much money to people who either refuse to work, the Republicans give too much money sometimes to overseas too. The combination of the two together reaches outrageous deficits. Both parties have been a dismal failure at this. But the future of having a third party in our country never seems to get going,” said Paul.

Some Republicans have taken to social media to voice their opinions, resulting in some getting their social media accounts suspended temporarily or shut down, including Paul’s dad, Ron Paul, earlier this week. Paul said social media corporations have too much power.

“You know I am concerned that big tech has so much power and they’re blocking people. Ultimately one of the things that people have to do in a free country is quit using them. So if you’re unhappy with Twitter, instead of complaining about it and waiting for the government to do something about it, quit using them.

“Shutting my dad down, who’s 85 years old and been out of politics for almost 10 years, who’s also been a public figure in writing and speaking since the 1970s is kind of a crazy thing, and it shows them to be crazy in their level of overreach. So I think it’s gonna backfire on them but I plan on trying to make sure that you can find news out of big tech’s control, and we’re looking at the technological means to try to allow that to happen,” said Paul.

He’s right about Electoral College being the domain of the states.

But the problem is states became lulled into the customary practice of a popular vote that chose a party committee selected EC slate that would then be presented to the Governor who would then approve the slates placeholder delegates in agency to the state legislature appointment power. In affect, the appointment power of the legislature was abdicated to the Governor!

This is wrong on several levels.

First, the appointment power is plenary to the state legislature... No other body.

Second, EC delegates are appointed, not elected by popular vote. And certainly not selected by partisan party committees as placeholders called party slates!

Third, delegate appointment is a nomination process under the legislature powers that would appoint representatives (delegates) who would represent the makeup and interests of the body closest to the people. We are a republic, not a direct democracy.

Fourth, popular vote in awarding an EC slate selected by a partisan party committee is an abomination and violation of the idea of representative government. The delegates are relegated to becoming a rubber stamp beholden to the outcome of a popular vote! That is not how the EC college was meant to work by our founders!

Federalist #68 argues the above points exactly that way!

It is the EC college process having been adulterated by direct vote election of party slates that allowed for 2020 to be corrupted by fraud!

COVID would never have interfered with delegate appointment since there would not be a popular vote mail-in ballot giving the opportunity for mischief and fraud.

EC appointments are representative delegates of the legislature... NOT a party stamp!

“What I try to explain to people over and over again...”

That is his problem. He thinks he is the sole repository of all wisdom. No, Paul, I don’t need you to explain a damn thing. I can understand it by myself. Election blatantly stolen and it takes a corrupt idiot to try to make us disbelieve our lying eyes.

Paul is being willfully blind here. He knows the swamp forces at work here but rather than drop a dime on them he spins in support of them. Very disturbing.

I agree with that. The solution to the Uniparty problem is to have politicians with no party alignment.

Rand Paul’s vote to go along with the monstrous electoral fraud was the most disturbing of all the scumbag Republicans to vote away our liberty. Even worse than the azzhole Pence. Paul has been bullschitting people for years that he was concerned about the loss of our freedom. Boy, did he show his true duplicitous self to all the suckers and rubes who bought his schtick. At least his father is a stalwart believer in liberty and freedom. Ron Paul would have never sanctioned the atrocity we just experienced. There’s no doubt at all anymore that the entire Republican Party is irredeemable and needs to be schittcanned along with every single one of its scumbag Republican co-conspirators who sat on their azzes while they watched our Republic die a horrible death.

So?.....If states have all the power to determine elections why bother to have the U.S. Congress certify the Electoral College?

The Founders put the U.S. Congress’ vote in place precisely as the last defense against fraud.

So?....Congress is completely redundant when it comes to elections? I don’t think the Founders intended that.

Mike Lee used the **same** argument!

Rand Paul and Mike Lee are COWARDS! SHAME on them!

Exactly. Looks to me like Congress has the final authority. Otherwise, what recourse for fraud is there if the state is completely corrupt?

We will see more and more challenges to EC in the future.

#Secession !!!

That's his position. He'd endorse a fraud because it's the only thing he can do.

Courts do the same thing. Just throw up their hands and say "we have no power to remedy this fraud, that's Congress's job." Finger pointing, all of them.

Failed institutions. Corrupt too.

The bigger the mistake or fraud by the government, the less likely the truth comes out.

None of them will EVER suggest the election was wrongly called. They are ALL fully invested in the fraud.

What I find most interesting. Is there anyone other than President Trump in Government, standing up for We the People?

Help me?

I’m somewhat confused.

Have I missed it?

No one?

Surly there is one?

What surprised me the most is the idea that seems to be running through the minds of those who supposedly represent us that this fraud or stolen election can’t be fixed now. We have to wait and pass more law for our protection in the future, not fix the result now.

That kind of thinking is pablum for the public. If the election was truly stolen, reality says you fix it cause it’s broken, not wait.

So the only thing there is to possibly believe, is the election wasn’t stolen, despite mountains of ignored evidence to the contrary.

Who believes it is even possible to fix when the fix is in?

Unless he was a Judas goat all along.

We don't know what physical threats these people are under. It seems like only the newest and least jaded representatives are still willing to talk straight.

A few. They are labeled cranks. Nunes, Biggs, Zeldin, Jordan, Gaetz. Maybe two or four others. A couple freshman, the gal from Georgia hasn't been captured yet.

The rest are dangerous and eventually deadly parasites.

Thanks for the names, and comment. I started to talk about Andy Biggs in my original comment, but scratched the idea to see what you might offer.

Unfortunately not one of the three elected from my State are on any list but the $%#t list. That includes the number two guy in the Senate, who sent me a contribution letter just yesterday telling me the “stakes are higher than ever”.

No mention of President Trump while telling me three or four times how bad Biden, Schumer, Pelosi, etc, were for the country.
