Walmart apologized to GOP Sen. Josh Hawley on Wednesday after a tweet from its official account called the Missouri lawmaker a “sore loser.”
The retailer blamed a member of its social media team for the since-deleted snarky tweet, saying the employee had intended to send it from their personal account.
Earlier Wednesday, Hawley tweeted a statement announcing he would object to President-elect Joe Biden’s victory at the Electoral College certification process in the Senate on Jan. 6.
Walmart responded to the tweet, writing: “Go ahead. Get your 2 hour debate. #SoreLoser.”
Hawley, a rising star in the GOP, fired back, attacking the company’s labor practices.
“Thanks @Walmart for your insulting condescension. Now that you’ve insulted 75 million Americans, will you at least apologize for using slave labor?” he wrote.
“Or maybe you’d like to apologize for the pathetic wages you pay your workers as you drive mom and pop stores out of business.”
Walmart issued a swift mea culpa in response to Hawley, tweeting, “The tweet published earlier was mistakenly posted by a member of our social media team. We deleted the post and have no intention of commenting on the subject of certifying the electoral college. We apologize to Senator Hawley for this error and any confusion about our position.”

The damage is done. They only apologized because he called them out on their insane business practices.

Walmart did us all a favor. Let’s be clear.....this is war. It started when DJT was duly elected. American politics will never ever be the same again. The Dem State railed against his supporters for four years. It continues today. 75 million plus MUST understand this goes beyond Trump. The soul of the country is on the line. It’s another reminder of what lies ahead. Ya’ll better be woke. This is a real war........

Not to minimize Walmart’s responsibility in this insult to Americans, but I’ve seen it where the clowns in the corporate “social media team” are lunatic Leftists and can’t control themselves. (Who else would want that job?) Worse, the Leftist twit who sent this Tweet likely thought he/she/it was on their personal Twitter account.
I don’t shop in Wal-Mart. Cheap Chinese merchandise. I don’t like big box stores. Fortunately have many other options where I live.
Yeah, if it were anti-Dim the person would have been fired already.
Even if every executive in the company felt that way, they’d never allow something like that to be posted.

Another “We’re sorry we got backlash” quasi-apology. No mention of the employee being fired, either.
But yet it went out on their verified account.
I had only recently started shopping there, and that was due to starting a keto diet and I could get some well priced items there. Probably went 10-12 times over the last year and a half and haven’t been for probably 3 months.
Very easy to never go back, did it with target.
Sadly Walmart is just about the only thing in my little town.
