I took the 11 years at Rockefeller Plaza working for Lazard for granted.

Even got annoyed at Christmas time because of the tourists and bus detours.

Now I would give anything to be a part of it one more time.

For one day :)

De blasi and cuomo have Destroyed NYC

But you guys should have seen it in the day.

Under Rudy.

The Metropolitan Opera House, the theatre district, the museums, the World Trade Center, the World Financial Center..it was the last great time to be a NYer.

It is what it is

Agreed.

I was there in the 60’s for college and grad school.
Just a marvelous place. Safe, fast, what it was famous for.

The decline there and elsewhere is due to a slide in respect for merit and a rise in left wing navel gazing. Almost willed to happen.

But you guys should have seen it in the day.

The same was said about Troy, Rome, and later Constantinople.

Visited several times through the years. Glad I got to during its more glorious times. Don’t think I will again...except to catch a connecting flight at one of the airports. Sad. 🙁

Born and raised in NYC...PS78, PS73 & Brooklyn Tech. Living in the Big Apple in the 50s, 60s & 70s was the best. Since then, not so much. Since 911...FUGEDABOUTIT.

I worked in the city for quite a few years. Thru the Dinkin’s to Rudy. The city really changed for the better after Dinkin’s was dumped. Used to be a great place to be around Christmas.

Years ago in midtown Manhattan an Eagle nest was constructed and eggs were laid. People would stop and stare at the nest. Finally there was at least one chick born and the city wanted to remove the nest and put the new family in the zoo.

By the time the liberal bird brained group received approval of the move, The birds were ready to hit the skies and find a new world. For a short period of time the Big Bird would return to the nest and then take off to the unknown. Libs were furious that the city took so long to give the green light.

I was in/around Times Square the weekend between Christmas and New Year’s, 1997, when Rudy was running the show. I have to admit, I was impressed.

They just wanted to work on NYC, the same magic they worked on San Francisco in the 60s and 70s.

Turn a sophisticated city into a dung heap.
