Years ago I went to Barnes & Noble and bought 3 books. The cashier (tattooed and facially modified with metal) picked up the first book, scanned it and put it aside. Picked up the second book, scanned it, and put it on top of the first. Saw that the third book was a Bible, and carefully used one finger to nudge it over the scanner, stopped, totaled the transaction and told me the price. Never touched any of the books again.
