ALBANY – As the police department released video of the officer's racist remarks, the police chief took steps Friday to fire the patrolman who was caught on tape calling Black people “the worst f__ing race.”
Haupt replies, “My buddies listen to the scanner and they send me texts all the time, and they go, ‘Is the suspect ever a white male?’ and I go ‘No.’ I know it sounds terrible to say, but I don’t give a f__ what anybody says, I sincerely don’t. Because bro, they are the worst f__ing race and I don’t — you can’t deny, like, over the last X amount of months, they are — you know because we work together — they are getting worse and worse, and people are defending that. Are you f__ing kidding me?”

“No more first amendment in Albany NY”
He was. on duty.
He was. on duty.
So when your on duty you suspend your right to tell the truth?
Maybe he could get on in Chicago; they need more policemen.
"What did he say that was wrong?"
He was honest. That's where he went wrong. You can never be honest. I know. It got me into trouble at work all the time, but I still managed to make it to retirement. I'll start my 17th year of retirement next month.
“So when your on duty you suspend your right to tell the truth?”
Employer censoring work speech is constitutional. You should know that.
It was body-cam video of a conversation he was having with another officer while at a gas station.
You are correct, and that the officer was on duty matters, obviously. However, if he'd been off-duty and been recorded (without his knowledge) saying the exact same things, I'd bet he'd still be fired. I am saving this article and showing it to my 14 year-old son. I have told him to make it a habit of NEVER, under any circumstances, letting his guard down when talking about any group of people...PARTICULARLY black people. The price you pay will be heavy. It's just not worth it.
This cop had to go. His conduct was just too unprofessional. And to keep him would be a defense lawyer’s dream - anytime a black guy he arrested went to trial, his lawyer would just play that tape.
And it’s really not a 1A issue. It’s a professionalism issue.
Ironically now, just a very few black cities, and their corrupt political and electoral machines, decide who is the President.
so they certainly aren’t victims.
Employer censoring work speech is constitutional. You should know that.
Captured surreptitiously on a body cam, I think he wins his suit.
hmm..I wonder if it will affect any past arrests.
And with everything being recorded you have to be very careful these days.
and now this guy has to worry about his safety and his family’s safety.
what a disaster
This cop had to go. His conduct was just too unprofessional.
I guess I disagree, what I find unprofessional is cops standing around allowing BLMers to attack Trump supporters.
If it were a black cop criticizing Caucasians nothing would happen. They could have given the cop a reprimand or a few days suspension for improper use of the PD radio. Hope the cop sued to get his job back
“Captured surreptitiously on a body cam, I think he wins his suit.”
There is no suit.
If it were a black cop criticizing Caucasians nothing would happen
Yep, the double standard, with many other examples, is what makes this case interesting.
