And there are always some Keepers Of Odd Knowledge out and about.
Oh I’d also take a Blizzard any day to a Hurricane!I miss my fireplace so lucky you!
Growing up lived in upper North Eastern Pa. near the NY State Border...saw huge storms growing up. Rolling Hills of Pa gave us wonderful town streets that would be closed off for kids to sled. There were always loads of parents there too probably because the hill extended on and on and gave everyone a great ride!
In our various businesses we were one of the first to carry snowmobiles in our area...”Ski Doos”. Took them up on the mountain we raced to get to the top challenges and hoped you didn’t fall over before reaching the summit! Ha!
Pretty much everyone had them in the area...though a fad then it’s nice that they continued to today.
We had a couple inches a few weeks ago when the jet stream dropped down...then this week in the 70’s...Fall..you never know what you’re going to get!
You call it up north, but that is in southern Alberta.. LOL
A few cms here in Central Alberta.
I think Montana got the snow too
And the skating down the street, typically Canadian
1/400 trillion has been thrown around.
Think about the exact right person over thousands if years surviving childhood diseases and plagues. Surviving wars and violence.
The right sperm meeting up with the right egg in the right partner.
And here you are!
Mind-boggling
Montana generally gets ooodles of snow I understand...but absolutely beautiful country!
So you live then in Cen Alberta......When I've visited Canada via Niagra Falls etc. it always has a feel of being in another country which is quite neat. Often heard people speaking French.
A family member use to hire a guide and go moose hunting with a bunch of guys, “Up North”....New Fundland....however it's spelled.
Canada the Great Beer Cooler of the North!
I didn’t know that was typical for Canadians....learn something new every day!
LOLLOL of too funny!
What are the odds?
Purt near all of my ancestors are dead...
Yeah, we had an early arctic blast in October. 6-7 inches of snow and single digit temps. Then it was back to the usual mellow Fall weather. Now it’s winter here for sure. Well, we have plenty of wood and the propane tank is full.
In Calgary, we only got a couple of inches. Presently 30°F and supposed to drop to 25°F overnight and 2 inches tomorrow. We fared much better than points further South and East, like Lethbridge and Swift Current. Tuesday night down to 10°F. That’s starting to feel like winter.
After completing the homestead in Saskatchewan, mine moved to Red Deer, AB about 120 km straight west from Halkirk. They didn’t homestead there, though and only stayed a year or two - long enough for my Grandma to be born in 1906.
Then they went on to Cranbrook, BC before finally landing in Creston, BC, just over the Idaho border where they spent 50 years on their fruit ranch.
Did you know you can order your ancestors original homesteading documents from the Provincial archives? I just got mine a few weeks ago and it is FULL of fascinating information including a handwritten letter from my G-G-Grandfather! Only cost me $12 in fees and costs, too.
