My teen boys were totally into ‘Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ back in the day. Glad to see he still has some fans around.
I’m a huge fan. I recommend listening to his recent albums. Boatman’s Call is avowedly Christian. It starts with into My Arms in which a guy who begins the song as an atheist comes to faith through love. All the albums after that beautifully weave faith in Jesus into the storylines. My favorites are the Lyre of Orpheus/ Abattoir Blues. Ghosteen is also very beautiful.
From “Sun Forest” on Ghosteen:
“And a man called Jesus, he promised he would leave us with a word that would light up the night, oh the night, but the stars hang from threads and blink off one by one and it isnt any fun no it isnt any fun to be standing here alone with nowhere to be with a man mad with grief and on each side a thief and everybody hanging from a tree, from a tree, and everybody hanging from a tree.”
